STRIKE 2005

An Injury to One is an Injury to All!

That’s the motto we live by. The IAM is built upon all members working together.

You are not alone in this strike. We are striking Boeing at seven facilities, with three contracts involved. We know Boeing is losing money every day with us holding the lines strongly at all facilities. Work isn’t being done, launches are rescheduled.

Don’t think for a minute that Boeing isn’t being hurt. The only way Boeing can make money is when you are in the facility working. Everything else is overhead.

Boeing demanded similar terms from all facilities. The contract offers bore a striking resemblance to an offer that caused the four-week strike in Seattle, Portland and Wichita. So, in a show of solidarity that surprised many, every facility voted overwhelmingly to strike.

The IAM in the late nineties created the Aerospace Department to coordinate all aerospace contracts, so companies couldn’t pit one group against the other. We won’t let Boeing do that now. We will continue to use our coordinated strength to hurt Boeing financially, and we all stand together, from one coast to the other. Our power is all of us together.

Make no mistake - we will continue to use that power when negotiations resume.

We are all striking together, and we will all end this strike together when we are ready to. Your brothers and sisters in California and Florida stand with you.
