The rights of employees are set forth principally in Section 7 of the Act, which provides as follows:
Sec. 7. - Employees shall have the right to self-organization, to form, join, or assist labor organizations, to bargain collectively through representatives of their own choosing, and to engage in other concerted activities for the purpose of collective bargaining or other mutual aid or protection, and shall also have the right to refrain from any or all of such activities except to the extent that such right may be affected by an agreement requiring membership in a labor organization as a condition of employment as authorized in section 8(a)(3).

What this means is that should you choose to honor any strike that may be called by Local 2766 as a result of tomorrow’s Ratification meeting, you will be afforded the same protections as any other member of Local 2766. In other words you cannot be fired or otherwise disciplined by standing with the Brothers and Sisters of Local 2766. At the end of any possible strike you be allowed to return to work along with the rest of the membership of Local 2766 and will receive any agreed upon pay and benefits just like everyone else.
Should you decide to honor our picket lines, call and/or email your manager to let them know that you intend to honor any strike called as a result of the Contract Ratification meeting. You can also forward a copy of your email to vp@local2766.org – this will document your intention to honor any potential picket lines.
If you require further clarification on this please contact any officer of Local 2766 or your local NLRB office:
